A Content ID claim is a copyright notification applied by a rights holder to protect their copyrighted content on YouTube. It is up to each rights holder to decide which policy they want to apply to matched content.

If you upload a video to YouTube with Snapmuse music without a valid subscription you may receive a monetization claim. Please keep in mind that a monetization claim is not a copyright strike. In this instance, we will not take down, mute or block your YouTube video for using our music without a subscription. However, Snapmuse will monetize the content and thereby, ads may appear on your video.

As a subscriber to Snapmuse you will not notice this system as your content will be automatically whitelisted when you sync your YouTube to Snapmuse.

Yes, by connecting your YouTube channel with us you can use Snapmuse music library in your content and you can monetize your videos right away!

How do I dispute a Content ID claim?

Accepted Answer

If you feel a content ID claim has been wrongfully placed on your video, you may choose to dispute the claim. After a Content ID dispute has been received we will review the claim as soon as possible. To dispute a claim please follow these directions:

Sign in to your YouTube account.
Click your account icon in the top right corner of the page.
Click Creator Studio > Video manager > Copyright notices. Here you will be able to see any claims that you may have.
Find that claim you wish to dispute and click the copyright symbol next to the video. This will provide information regarding the claim and which content in your video that it refers to.
Click File a dispute and follow the steps.

Please keep in mind, the sooner that you file your dispute, the less likely you will be to miss out on revenue generated from your content.

Facebook Rights Manager (FRM) is a system that copyright holders use on Facebook and Instagram to easily identify and manage their content. Content uploaded to these platforms is scanned against a database of files that have been submitted to Facebook and Instagram by content owners. Through this service, we are able to decide what actions should be taken on content using Snapmuse music.

All of our Snapmuse music libraries is uploaded as reference files in Facebook Rights Manager allowing us to protect the use of our copyrighted material on Facebook and Instagram.

Why did I receive a claim from a third party for using music I licensed from Snapmuse?

Because we own all the rights to Snapmuse music, no third party has the right to make any claims on your video. Unfortunately, false claims can be wrongfully made. The chances of this are very unlikely because of our use of systems such as Content ID and Facebook Rıghts Manager.

In the event of receiving a false claim from a third party, you can have the claim retracted. When filing your dispute please attach a link to our website as well as a link to the Snapmuse track. When you finish your complaint please email us at hello@snapmuse.com with a screenshot of the claim and the URL of your video so we can contact the claimant from our end.

We take false claims such as these very seriously because we care about the integrity of our subscribers’ content and will do everything in our power to have the claim retracted. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions or concerns.

Why is my video being blocked on Facebook/Instagram?

In the event of your content (with Snapmuse music) being blocked on Facebook or Instagram please dispute the claim. Then email us at hello@snapmuse.com with the URL of the blocked content and we will handle the case promptly.

Will there be ads on my video?

You decide! As a subscribed user you have the right to monetize your content but no ads will be placed on your content by Snapmuse. To prevent any monetization from our end, please do not forget to connect to your Youtube channel in your account settings. This way, your channel will be automatically whitelisted. Additionally, please keep in mind if you discontinue your subscription we reserve the right to monetize any videos using Snapmuse music.
