Deriving its inspiration from electronic music, dub distinguished itself as a new genre from reggae in the late 1960s. Born in Jamaica, dub music was partly created by legendary producers and talented recording engineers like Errol Thompson and Lee Scratch Perry and Osbourne King Tubby Ruddock. Musical characteristics of dub genre include a heavy emphasis of the rhythm along with the abundant application of electronic effects like reverb and echo.
