Born in the early 2000’s London, dubstep is a relatively young subgenre heavily influenced by 2-step, reggae, UK garage, jungle, breakbeat, drum and bass, dub, and grime genres. The most famous feature of dubstep is its syncopated rhythmic patterns enhanced by very heavy sub-bass frequencies. Started as a niche genre, dubstep managed to find itself a solid place in the mainstream –mostly due to the support by popular DJs like John Peel and producers like Skrillex.
