Reggaeton

Born in Puerto Rico in the late 1990s, reggaeton has its stylistic origins in hip hop, dancehall, toasting and soca. Heavily influenced by Caribbean and Latin American music, reggaeton is known for its upbeat and cheerful songs. A typical reggaeton song employs synthesizer, DAW, dembow, sampler and rapping. The most famous characteristic of this genre is, of course, the dembow riddim. It consists of timbaroll, kick drum, snare drum, kickdown drum, timbal and palito. Inspired by dancehall, dembow’s percussion pattern evokes the desire to dance. If you want to learn more about reggaeton or discover top reggaeton tracks, see our library below.
